About Shane Manning

Shane is tireless campaigner who cares deeply about his community and his country.

He prides himself on his integrity, his strong ethics and on his ability to engage others and build strong relationships based on mutual trust and respect.

Shane comes from a former mining town in the North of England but now lives in Hertfordshire with his wife Gemma and son Mason.

He has previously served as a Conservative Councillor in East Hertfordshire between 2019-2023, where he was also the Chairman for the Bishop’s Stortford Planning and Development Management Committee for two years.

Shane has held the role of Deputy Chairman, Membership and Fundraising on two separate occasions for the Hertford and Stortford Conservative Association.

Shane is passionate about supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds realise their potential. He has volunteered for many years with the Patchwork Foundation charity, whose aim is to support young people from underrepresented communities get involved in civic life. He was invited to join their Leadership Council in 2022, where he now supports the development of their outreach programmes. He has also been a governor for two local schools in Hertfordshire, where he championed greater support for children in receipt of free school meals and children with special educational needs (SEN).

Professionally, Shane has over 12 years of experience in the private sector covering law, finance, sales and technology. He currently works for a large bank in London focusing on digital change and transformation projects. Here he is responsible for developing strategy and managing a team of over 100 people.

As someone from a working class background in the North of England, Shane cares deeply about giving a voice to the most disadvantaged in our society. He fully supports the government’s ambition to closing the attainment gap and levelling up across our country to create opportunities for everyone. He is passionate about the role technology can play in helping the UK economy grow, as well as its impact on skills training and education.
